Not only one, two but three guest bands were invited by ACCESS Computer College onits annual battle of the bands held at the Araneta Coliseum last September 12, 2011. This year is one of the best and enjoyable Battle of the Bands ever and seven bands from seven campuses of ACCESS Computer College competed for the title. This event has promoted ACCESSians to excel not only in academics but also in the field of music.

This year’s hosts Bamba and Russel collided and energized the students on their jolly pick up lines. At exactly 1:30pm the event has started. The first performer was the Cubao 1 –Lhytharted Band, and then followed by Cubao 2 – Eraektus Unos Band, next Recto – Leviticus Band, Camarin – Siyatu Band, Zabarte – Heytlheyt Band, Lagro – Bersatu Band, and the last Monumento – Argumento Band. All of them gave their total performances on stage just to entertain the audience. They were cheered up by their friends, classmates and even their instructors and some of them were carried away and altogether sung the beat of the songs.

This was the second time that Parokya ni Edgar performed as a guest band. Their music became more charming and more exciting. When Chito Miranda came out on stage the students yelled and cheered. They were too excited to see their favorite band vocalist. Chito started with the song “Halaga”, then “Buloy”, followed by “Pichapie”, “Para Sayo” and lastly “Yes Yes Show” for his finale. After Parokya ni Edgar, Gloc9 came next on stage. I was so lucky enough to have interviewed him before he performed. Our Q and A was: Is there any disadvantage or pressure to perform alone on stage compared to a band? “Yes, not because of being a solo performer but to perform in front of a crowd whose most of the audience are students who seem to dislike my music or the way I sung is quite pressuring, but I’m a performer, so I want to give my at most performance.” “Bato Bato sa Langit” was the first song he sung, then “Upuan”, and before he sung his favorite song written by the late King of Rap Francis Magalona the “Kaleidoscope”, he asked the technical management to turn off the lights and told the audience to turn on their phones and put it up high just like kaleidoscope running around Araneta with its colorful pattern lights then the audience joined him in the singing and had felt the spirit of the music.

While waiting for Jay, the vocalist of Kamikazee, Russel and Bamba revealed Jay’s tattoo newest collection on his right arm and Russel revealed also Bamba’s butterfly tattoo on his back. When Jay came out on stage the audiences were astonished and frightened because of his mascara but that doesn’t stop the audience from screaming. Jay sung “Sexy”, “Libre Lang Mangarap”, “Away-away Na’to” and his hit song “Narda”. He ended his performance with a short message about boys’ affection with girls that “they must not fully give all their love so that when separation comes they have still a part left for them”.

The most awaited awarding was the last part of the show. All the bands had received prizes and trophies: Best in Keyboard – Zabarte Heytlheyt Band, Best in Melody - Cubao 1 Lytharted Band, Best in Rhythm - Cubao2 Eraektus Unos Band, Best in Synchronization – Lagro Bersatu Band, Best in Tempo – Manila Leviticus Band, 1st Runner Up – Monumento Argumento Band and the Champion was Camarin Siyatu Band.

The ACCESS NEWSBYTE would like to congratulate all winners and to those who participated in this very successful event – the BOTB 2011. See you next year for the BOTB 2012. KUDOS to all ACCESSians!
